Latest NewsMowingHangar 5 is responsible for mowing in October/NovemberGunnedah Aero Club - CASA LectureThe Gunnedah aero club is hosting a CASA Lecture on aging Aero planes. I hope you will be able to come and support the Gunnedah club as it hosts the day.CASA will present the talk from 9.00am on the 24th of September at the club and will finish with a BBQ 12.00 noon. It is put on for the benefit of all our local pilots. After the BBQ there will be an inter club comp through till 4.30pm then drinks. For those who want to stay over for the activities the next day billets will be found for you or I can suggest accommodation in town. The next days activities will be one of two options. One BBQ at Narrabri at about 12.00 noon or TWO glider at Lake Keepit with BBQ. If you can support the club and hear what CASA has to say I will appreciate it. A wake will follow the service at the Munmorah Bowling Club on the corner of Acacia Ave and Colongra Bay Rd Lake Munmorah. The Club extends its deepest sympathies to Jeanie, his family and friends. Clubhouse Extension Working Bee 17/4/11What a good Club we have. A large turnout of volunteers helped erect the steelwork for the clubhouse extension on Sunday 17th April. Thanks to Keith McGeachie for the excavation and formwork and Don Laverick for arranging materials and concrete finishers. Ron West and Don cut out the two main arches and Dave Freestone welded them up. Other helpers were Fred, Lyle, Jenny, Phil, Bob Barry, Bob Finch, Reg, John Arthurson, Don Ramsay, Chris, Harry, Leighton and Murray Edwards. Thanks to all. Apologies to anyone I may have overlooked. ThanksScone Aeroclub Fly in Sunday 13th FebScone Aeroclub is hosting a fly in on Sunday 13th Feb. This clashes with our meeting day but it is still a good activity for those who feel the need to fly that day. Ther will also be a tour of the Pay hangar about midday. The pilots will be responsible for their own accommodation – there is no camping on the airfield If you are interested in going and for more information, please contact: Mike Roche 0408203362 Revfest event 14th NovAll members please be advised that the Revfest event that was to take place on Oct 31 has now been rescheduled for Sunday 14 November. This is our monthly meeting day so please be aware that there could be some delays accessing the taxiway after the starting time of midday. The event organisers have amended the access arrangements and will be entering the venue via a gate off DeBeyers Rd and should not encroach on our premises at all now.Membership Fees 2010 - 2011Members please note. Fees for this year are-Full membership with voting rights $95.00 Social membership $25.00 Rejoining fee after Sept meeting $40.00 Club working bee 15th MayThe working bee held on May 15th was a huge success. A BIG thankyou to all who were able to attend on such short notice. Three projects were completed. The main gates were fitted to their new posts together with new star picket and wire fencing. A metre of slag was moved from near the hangar 8 fenceline and used to repair the potholed access road and the storeage container had a corrugated iron roof installed complete with whirly bird fume extractor. This was a great club effort, thankyou.Funeral NoticeMembers please note that the funeral of Paul Caban, the son of HRFC member Fred Caban will be held at Pettigrews Wallsend at 2pm on Monday 10th May. Contact Geoff Eather mob. 0405181122 or email geather@bigpond.net.au for details.Seniors Visit to HRFC 24th March 2010An approach from CCC and Airport Management for the Club to host a morning tea for a group of senior citizens was agreed to at our last meeting and volunteers called for. The visit was a great success with 12 people attending accompanied by Jessica Forbes from CCC and Lyndon Baker from ALC. A huge thankyou to Joan and Ron West, Rhonda and John Arthurson, Anne and Mike Roche, Reg Connors, Lyle Kennedy, Bob Finch, Robyn Stewart and anyone I have overlooked for this great Club effort.Nancy Bird-Walton Memorial Tower Opening 7/11/09The Nancy Bird-Walton Memorial Tower at Luskintyre Airfield was officially opened by the Mayor of Maitland, Peter Blackmore on Saturday 7th Nov. 2009. About thirty aeroplanes flew in to celebrate the opening which was attended by approximately 250 people including many HRFC members..New Years Day Dawn Patrol from Luskintyre 2010Six aeroplanes took off at first light on Friday morning in an attempt to see the years first sunrise from the air. Five from Luskintyre, including a pristine 1944 model Beechcraft Staggerwing, three Tigers and a Cessna and a Karatoo from Cessnock made the flight to Newcastle Beach, then down the coast to Swansea before returning to Luskintyre for a cooked breakfast. Cloud obscured the sunrise but the flight was one of the smoothest I can remember.Weather Forcasts using the Internet and GPSThe weather GPS tutorial presented by Kevin White and Eddie Seve last Saturday was a great success from all reports. Anne-Marie took lots of photo's which can be seen on her album. Congratulations to presenters and attendees.HRFC Flyout to Old Bar 20/9/09This months relocated flyout provided some challenges to the crews who were able to make the flight. There was a precautionary diversion to Wallis Island for the X-Air and bushfire smoke to hamper visability on the return from Taree. Denis Gracie and his brother Ian met us at Old Bar and stayed for hamburger,chips and Coke lunch. They had recently mown and groomed the strip and it looked great. They are having their annual festival there on Oct 3rd & 4th to which the Club is welcome to attendGrangeview Fly-in 12/09/09What a fabulous day this was. Clear skies, no turbulence, mild weather, good company and great food, even if we did have to volunteer to man the BBQ. Yarrawa 19 07 09This months Club flyout to Yarrawa was a great success. Seven aeroplanes and twelve people made the flight. Arrival times ranged from 10am till a little after midday. The wind was 25kts @ 270 deg. so we all enjoyed a quick flight home. Thanks to Christine and Peter for their hospitality and to the participants for their enthusiasm and morning teas supplied. Hope you can make it to our next outing to Old Bar on August 16th. |
